London is a metropolis that constantly surprises. It’s a place where royal traditions meet the creative present, classic pubs meet innovative restaurants, elegant shopping streets meet colourful markets. Whether it’s your first visit or your tenth, new neighbourhoods, new flavours and new perspectives await around every corner.
Discovering the city on foot is unbeatable. Follow the Thames past iconic bridges, take a break in leafy Hyde Park or get lost in the backstreets of Covent Garden. From the heights of the Sky Garden or the London Eye, the city’s rooftops spread out – a view that’s as powerful in daylight as when darkness falls and the lights come on.
From historic landmarks like the Tower of London and Westminster Abbey to trendy neighbourhoods like Shoreditch, with its street art and designer boutiques, London has it all. Borough Market combines local delicacies with international flavours, and the West End is home to world-class musicals and theatre.
With millions of inhabitants and a rich cultural life, London is a city full of energy, contrasts and character. It blends tradition and innovation in a way that makes every visit unique.
About the race
Running the Big Half is more than covering 21.1 kilometres – it’s experiencing London first-hand, right in the heart of the city’s vibrant life. When the starting gun goes off at Tower Bridge and you make your way across the closed-off street with the Thames sparkling beside you, it feels like the whole city opens up. The cheers of the crowd follow you through the neighbourhoods of East London, creating an energy that carries you forward step by step.
The course is fast and inviting, but above all, full of character. You’ll run through modern Canary Wharf, along wide city streets and on to historic Greenwich. The contrasts are clear – old meets new, glass facades reflect centuries of history – and each part of the race has its own atmosphere. As you approach the finish line at the Cutty Sark and see the classic sailing ship rise up in front of you, there’s that special feeling: you’re part of something bigger than just a race.
The Big Half is as much about community as it is about performance. It brings together elite and amateur runners, Londoners and international guests, all driven by the same rhythm through the city streets. Whether the goal is a personal best or savouring the experience all the way to the finish line, this is a half marathon that combines the pulse of the city with the joy of running – and leaves you with the memory of London in every step.
