Distribution of race numbers / Expo

You can collect your race number at the adidas Stockholm Marathon Expo, which is centrally located near the start line at Lejonhallen, Östermalms IP. There is also a large running expo here, featuring exhibitors and running gear linked to the race.

The Expo is open at the following times:

Thursday 28 May: 12.00–19.00
Friday 29 May: 10.00–20.00
Saturday 30 May: 08.30–11.30

Exact times will be announced by the organiser closer to the race.

Start and transport

The start of the adidas Stockholm Marathon is next to Stockholm Stadium in Östermalm, near central Stockholm.

Stockholm has a well-developed public transport system comprising the underground, buses and commuter trains, making it easy to get to the start area on the day of the race.

The race will start in different starting groups to ensure a steady flow of runners and as smooth a start as possible.

Clothing drop-off point

You can hand in a bag of clothes in the start area. The bag should be labelled with the tag included in your starter pack and handed in at the designated area before the start.

Starting area and course

The starting area is situated next to Östermalms IP. There are clearly marked starting pens here, organised according to estimated finishing times.

The adidas Stockholm Marathon is more than just a marathon – it’s a running journey through one of the world’s most beautiful capital cities. From the start in Östermalm, Stockholm becomes part of the experience. The route takes you through vibrant neighbourhoods, along the waterfront, past historic buildings and through some of Stockholm’s best-known areas, before the race concludes with one of the marathon world’s most iconic finishes – inside Stockholm’s Olympic Stadium.

You’ll run through areas including Vasastan and Kungsholmen, along Stockholm’s waterfront and past the impressive City Hall. You’ll experience the historic surroundings of Gamla Stan, with the Royal Palace nearby, the greenery of Djurgården and the vibrant atmosphere and character of Södermalm.

Water is ever-present. Stockholm is built on islands, and the combination of bridges, water, historic buildings and green spaces gives the race its unique character.

The temperature in Stockholm at the end of May is often between 15 and 20 degrees, which usually provides good conditions for marathon running.

Hydration and energy during the race

There are a large number of refreshment stations along the course where water, sports drinks and sometimes even energy drinks are served. The stations are situated at regular intervals throughout the race.

Toilets and medical staff are also available along the course and in the start and finish areas.

The objective

You cross the finish line at Stockholm’s Olympic Stadium, built for the 1912 Olympic Games, and take the final few steps along the running track towards the finish line. After crossing the finish line, all runners receive a medal and a drink.

The finish line is located at the start area, which makes logistics straightforward after the race.

Adidas Stockholm Marathon is more than a marathon – it is a 42.195-kilometre journey through one of the world’s most beautiful capital cities.

From the moment you cross the start line in Östermalm, Stockholm becomes part of the race. The course takes you through lively neighbourhoods, along the waterfront, past historic landmarks and through some of the city’s most iconic areas before delivering one of the great marathon finishes: inside the historic Stockholm Olympic Stadium.

A course made for sightseeing – and racing

The course leads through Vasastan and Kungsholmen, along Stockholm’s beautiful waterfront and past the magnificent Stockholm City Hall. You will experience the cobbled history and architecture of Gamla Stan – Stockholm’s Old Town – with the Royal Palace nearby, the greenery of Djurgården, and the energy and character of Södermalm.

The course brings you back towards Stockholm Olympic Stadium, built for the 1912 Olympic Games. You enter the historic arena and run the final metres on the track towards the finish line.

Our hotels

We offer six carefully selected hotels, ranging from 3 to 5 stars, giving you the flexibility to choose the level of comfort, location and price that suits you best. Five of the hotels enjoy excellent central locations and are also within walking distance of the start and finish area.

Scandic Alvik is our most affordable option. The hotel offers a good standard, and it is primarily the location outside the city centre that allows us to offer a lower price. The metro takes you into the very heart of Stockholm in approximately 15 minutes, while you should allow around 30 minutes to reach the start and finish area.

Hotel Tapto offers the best location for race day. Situated just a few hundred metres from both the start and finish, it could hardly be more convenient for runners. At the same time, central Stockholm is only around a 15-minute walk away.

Hotel Kung Carl and Scandic Anglais are two excellent 4-star options, both enjoying prime locations around the lively and popular Stureplan area. Restaurants, cafés, shopping and Stockholm city life are right outside the door.
