Warsaw Marathon

If you want to run an international marathon with a great atmosphere and an exciting city as a backdrop, the Warsaw Marathon is the perfect choice. The course runs through Poland’s historic capital, the crowds are enthusiastic and the autumn temperatures are usually ideal for running. Plus, you have all summer to train for the race.

The Warsaw Marathon is a fantastic running experience with runners from all over the world and thousands of enthusiastic spectators cheering along the course. The city offers a beautiful and historic setting, and the race is very well organised. In 2024, over 12,000 runners finished!

This year, for the first time, we are travelling with a group to run the Warsaw Marathon. Come along and run yourself or join us and become one of many supporters cheering along the course.

Number plate distribution / Expo

The Number Plate Expo (Race Office + Sport & Fitness Expo) is located in the Palace of Culture and Science in the centre of Warsaw. We will take a joint walk there for those who want to join us.

The start number is collected on presentation of a photo ID/passport and QR code. It is acceptable for the start number to be collected by a friend on presentation of a copy/photo of the participant’s ID and the assigned QR code.

Number Plate Expo at the Palace of Culture and Science, located just 5 minutes’ walk from the hotel.

Take-off and transport

Our hotel is located only 400 metres from the start & finish area at the Palace of Culture and Science.

The start for the elite is at 09:00, then you start in different waves. You have been given a wave on the number tag after the estimated finish time you specified when registering. We recommend being in place in your pen about 30-45 minutes before the start.

Before the start, you can use the changing rooms located near the bag drop if you wish.

Clothes drop-off

As the hotel is close to the start and finish, we do not recommend our runners to use the “clothing drop-off” located at the finish line. Instead, we recommend (depending on the weather) that you put on an old shirt and trousers that you can throw away after the start. It can be chilly in the morning. If it rains, a rain poncho is a good idea.

Along with your bib number, you will receive a bag for clothes which you can, if you wish, leave at the start area bag drop.

Starting area and track

Water is served at the start area and toilets are available. For those of you who want to be accompanied to the start area, you will find times in the programme for that.

The race starts and finishes in the centre of Warsaw at the Palace of Culture and Science. The central location makes it easy for both runners and spectators to get to the start area. The course then takes you through the city’s wide boulevards, across the Vistula River and past several of Warsaw’s most famous neighbourhoods before finishing back in the heart of the city.

The maximum time for the Warsaw Marathon is 6.5 hours.

The average temperature in September is about 19 degrees centigrade during the day and 9-10 degrees centigrade at night.

Hydration and energy during the race

There are very many hydration stations located throughout the course. They offer water and various refreshments, with different ranges available at different stations. See the course map for more detailed information.

The objective

After the finish, you will receive a medal, energy and fluids. There are also showers and free massages available.

The Warsaw Marathon takes you on a spectacular journey through Poland’s capital, where modern pulse meets historical views.

The start and finish are centrally located at the Palace of Culture and Science, making it easy for both runners and walkers to enjoy the city’s atmosphere. The course winds through the Old Town with its charming squares and cobbled streets, across the Vistula River and along wide boulevards lined with cheers from thousands of spectators.
