Take-off and transport
Our hotel is located only 400 metres from the start & finish area at the Palace of Culture and Science.

Before the start, you can use the changing rooms located near the bag drop if you wish.
Clothes drop-off
As the hotel is close to the start and finish, we do not recommend our runners to use the “clothing drop-off” located at the finish line. Instead, we recommend (depending on the weather) that you put on an old shirt and trousers that you can throw away after the start. It can be chilly in the morning. If it rains, a rain poncho is a good idea.
Along with your bib number, you will receive a bag for clothes which you can, if you wish, leave at the start area bag drop.

Rome – a city where history meets everyday life
Rome is a destination where thousands of years of history live side by side with a vibrant contemporary city life. The city is equally suited to first-time visitors and those who want to return and discover new neighbourhoods at a slower pace.
Rome offers a multifaceted experience where ancient ruins, Renaissance palaces and everyday neighbourhoods blend together. Along narrow streets and open squares, historic monuments, cafés and small shops meet, and each neighbourhood has its own character. It’s easy to intersperse well-known sights with spontaneous breaks for food, walking or people-watching.
As a destination, Rome is suitable for both a short city break and a longer stay. Distances are manageable, public transport is well developed and there is a wide range of accommodation. Whether your focus is on history, culture, food or just taking in the city’s atmosphere, Rome is a city that invites you to experience it at your own pace.
About the race
The Rome Marathon is a magnificent marathon race that attracts 20 000 – 30 000 runners from all over the world every year. The race winds its way through the heart of Rome, with participants starting on Via dei Fori Imperiali in the shadow of the Colosseum and getting a unique chance to run among some of the city’s most iconic sites.
The race passes historic landmarks such as Piazza Venezia, Circus Maximus, the ancient Pyramid of Cestius and the imposing Basilica di San Paolo fuori le Mura before reaching one of the most devotional parts of the course – Via della Conciliazione towards the majestic dome of St Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City. Along the Tiber, beautiful views are offered, and the race continues through classical neighbourhoods past Piazza del Popolo, the Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona and the world-famous Trevi Fountain. The finish line is then in Circo Massimo, where runners end their adventure in one of the greatest arenas of antiquity with the Colosseum as a backdrop again.
The Rome Marathon is one of Europe’s most impressive urban and cultural marathons, where history literally surrounds you throughout the race. The course is mostly flat but also includes sections of classic Roman cobblestones, providing both a physical and visual challenge. The race is organised in March when Rome’s early spring offers cool mornings and pleasant temperatures, making it a popular time to tackle both personal goals and sightseeing in one.

Known as one of the most exclusive winter resorts in the Alps, Davos shows its most beautiful side in summer. Green alpine meadows, crystal-clear lakes and snow-capped peaks on the horizon make this an unforgettable place for those who love movement, nature and adventure.
Join us for an active week where we combine hikes in a magnificent alpine environment with mobility training, yoga and socialising. Our experienced leaders will inspire and guide you through a varied training week – and you’ll also have time to explore Davos’ range of cycling, golf, tennis or climbing. There really is something for everyone.
AMERON Davos Swiss Mountain Resort – your home in the Alps
During the trip we stay at the luxurious AMERON Davos Swiss Mountain Resort, a modern 4-star hotel in the heart of Davos. Here, Alpine elegance meets international design, and after the day’s adventures you can relax in the hotel’s award-winning spa. Enjoy heated pools, saunas, steam baths and pampering treatments – or simply relax with views of the Swiss Alps. The hotel also offers first-class restaurants where local produce meets international flavours. In short: a perfect combination of activity, relaxation and comfort.
Davos X-trails – the heart of the trip The highlight of the week is the Davos X-trails, one of Europe’s most spectacular mountain races. Whatever distance you choose, a world-class challenge awaits, with breathtaking views and an atmosphere you won’t soon forget.
A trip out of the ordinary Springtime has been organising trips to Davos since 1989. With our centrally located hotel, you are close to lifts and cable cars that quickly take you to the best hiking and running trails in the Alps. The focus is on the hiking and running experience, but every day we also offer complementary training sessions. Add to that good food, great company and engaging leaders – and you get a holiday that brings both memories and new energy.
Things to consider To get the most out of your trip, we recommend a good basic level of fitness, similar to that of a fit exerciser. Do you have what it takes to become one of the few people in the world to have run a marathon on all seven continents? Antarctica, the last and most inaccessible continent, offers a running experience like no other – a journey to the world’s most remote and spectacular landscapes where ice, wind and untouched nature create an arena that few ever get the chance to experience.
Join the Antarctica Marathon® 2027 – Voyage Two, an exclusive expedition where you will not only have the chance to run on the seventh continent, but also experience Antarctica up close during an unforgettable journey. Start in Buenos Aires, sail through the mighty Drake Strait and land on King George Island to complete one of the world’s most extreme running challenges.
The race is as much a physical feat as an adventure. The course’s dirt roads are lined with icebergs and penguins, and you’ll feel the history of the first explorers to set foot here. After the finish, we’ll celebrate on board our expedition ship before heading off to explore Antarctica’s mighty glaciers, fjords and unique wildlife.
This is a running experience like no other – and a chance to complete your Seven Continents Club® challenge in one of the planet’s most legendary places. Are you ready to set foot and your running shoes on the world’s seventh continent?
The trip is organised in cooperation with Marathon Tours & Travel, USA. The trip usually includes runners from about 20 countries, so it is a very international experience. All tour management, guiding and lectures are in English.
Marathon Tours & Travel has been offering the Antarctica Marathon®️ & Half-Marathon since its inception in 1995 and the event is very professional and well organised.
The journey to Antarctica starts with three nights in Buenos Aires, where you will have the opportunity to meet other participants, discover the vibrant city and attend the mandatory race briefing and a joint welcome dinner. We then fly to Ushuaia, at the southernmost tip of Argentina. From there, your journey to Antarctica begins on board the Ocean Victory. Over several days, you’ll sail through the Beagle Channel, across Drake Strait, through the Shetland Islands and on to King George Island – where the races take place.
During the voyage, you will explore one of the most pristine places on the planet, and encounter the splendour of Antarctica in the form of glaciers, icebergs, penguins, seals and whales. On board the ship, you’ll hear lectures from historians and scientists, and take part in landings to visit seal colonies, penguin colonies, research stations and more.
The race on King George Island runs on marked dirt roads connecting research bases from Uruguay, Chile, China and Russia. Great care is taken not to leave any environmental footprint in this sensitive ecosystem. For this reason, a maximum of 100 people are allowed to stay on land at the same time during the event. Marathon Tours & Travel takes its responsibility very seriously and has so far raised over $600,000 for Oceanites – a non-profit research organisation that monitors the effects of climate change and the impact of tourism on Antarctica.

About the race
Start times: Two start groups (approximately 07:00 and 12:30)
Course: The race will start and probably finish about 200 metres from Bellingshausen, the Russian base. The final course will be measured and prepared the day before the race. Activities at the bases, road conditions and/or weather may affect the course.
The aim is to include all four bases in the area – China, Chile, Russia and Uruguay – allowing for a three-lap course for the marathon. The course runs entirely on dirt roads, which can often be muddy. The exact course changes every year depending on base operations, weather and road conditions.
All runners must be self-sufficient and cannot count on access to indoor facilities during the race.
Environmental commitment:
The track on King George Island connects the research stations from Uruguay, Chile, China and Russia via marked dirt roads. Great care is taken not to leave any environmental footprint on this sensitive ecosystem.
For this reason, a maximum of 100 people are allowed ashore at any one time during the event. Marathon Tours & Travel takes its responsibility very seriously and has raised over $600,000 to date for Oceanites – a non-profit scientific organisation that monitors the impact of climate change and tourism on Antarctica.
Charitable purposes:
Every year Marathon Tours & Travel offers runners the opportunity to sponsor an official Antarctica kilometre mark Marathon®️ or Half Marathon. All proceeds go to Oceanites.
As a thank you, the sponsor gets to keep their personalised kilometre marker after the race – a unique souvenir! For over 30 years, Oceanites has been researching the impact of climate change and tourism on Antarctica, and collecting important data on wildlife.
In addition, a charity auction will be held on board during the voyage with all proceeds going to Oceanites.
Temperature:
The average temperature during the race is -9°C to +1°C, but wind chill can lower the experience by another 5-10°C. Heavy snowfall is rare, but light snow showers are common.
Maximum times for the course:
Marathon: Max 6 hours and 30 minutes
You must have passed the half marathon within 3 hours and 10 minutes
Half marathon: Max 4 hours and 30 minutes
Officials have the right to remove participants from the race if fatigue, hypothermia or dehydration is considered a danger.
Number plate & check-in:
Check-in and mandatory race briefing takes place at the welcome dinner in Buenos Aires. The briefing focuses in particular on environmental rules for the event.
Shoes:
You do not need any special shoes. Trail running shoes are recommended, preferably water-resistant. Bring two pairs of shoes as it can be wet and muddy. Lightweight racing flats are not recommended.
NOTE! Walking sticks or other aids are not allowed in any of the races.
Age limits:
All marathon participants must be 18 years of age or older on race day.
No age limit applies for the half marathon.
Prizes & Awards:
The top three women and men in both races are recognised.
In the marathon, the top two in each age category are recognised:
Under 40 years
40-49 years
50-59 years
60-69 years
70 years and older
Everyone who completes the race receives a finisher certificate and medal.
Difficulty level:
Very challenging.
Entry fee: SEK 2500 regardless of distance.
Good to know
Antarctica Marathon – Packing list and good to know
Please note:
All guests are allowed to take only one (1) piece of hand luggage of maximum 8kg and one (1) piece of checked-in luggage of maximum 22kg on the chartered flight from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia.
As it is summer weather in Buenos Aires, the clothes used in Buenos Aires can be left in a bag at the hotel when we return to the same hotel.
AVERAGE TEMPERATURES (MARCH)
Buenos Aires, Argentina: 20-30 °C
Ushuaia, Argentina: 7-16 °C
Antarctica: -8 to +2 °C
CLOTHING CODE
Clothing throughout the journey is casual and comfortable.
More festive occasions: We recommend dressing up for the welcome dinner in Buenos Aires and for the closing cocktail (smart casual/business casual).
TIP: Keep a warm and waterproof jacket handy in Ushuaia – temperatures are significantly lower than in Buenos Aires.
The stock-on-stock principle:
Base layer: Wicks away moisture and keeps the body warm
Midlayer: Insulates and preserves body heat
Outer layer: Protects against water and wind while remaining breathable
TIP: No need to bring a winter jacket – a parka is provided on board!
CLOTHING
Provided on board:
Insulated parka with waterproof outer – yours to keep
Sturdy rubber boots – to borrow during the cruise (ideal for landings).
Please note: You do not need to bring a winter jacket. The parka that everyone receives is excellent. For all landings, you must use the boots provided by the ship, which means that your own boots or winter shoes are not needed.
We recommend that you pack:
Bearings – Upper body
Moisture wicking base layer
Medium-weight insulating fleece layer and/or down jacket
Waterproof shell/outer layer with hood
Stock – Lower body
Thermal trousers/base layers
Medium-weight trousers
Waterproof trousers (e.g. rain or ski trousers)
Other
Swimsuit – for Polar Plunge, jacuzzi etc.
Fingerprints
Outer gloves or mittens (large enough to wear finger mittens underneath)
Moisture wicking sock layer
Outer socks (e.g. wool)
Special running socks for race day
Thermal cap
Scarf / buff / balaclava / face mask

Backpack (30L recommended for race day) for camera, mobile phone etc.
Binoculars
Camera, extra batteries and memory cards
TRAVEL ADAPTER & ELECTRICITY
Argentina:
Type C and Type I sockets
220V / 50Hz – Check your appliances. 110V requires adapter.
Ocean Victory:
Type F sockets in public areas
International A-13 sockets in cabins and bathrooms (compatible with most plugs)
SEAJUKA
Bring seasickness medication (plasters, tablets, etc.) as advised by a doctor.
The ship sells a limited amount of seasickness tablets – we recommend that you bring your own.
DOCUMENTS & MEANS OF PAYMENT
Valid passport
Credit card
Cash (USD) – Recommended in small denominations ($1, $5, $10, $20) for taxis etc.
NOTE: Tips for the expedition team are paid in cash. Recommended level: $15/day, i.e. $150 for 10 days.
INTERNET AND TELEPHONE
It is expensive to call from Buenos Aires and also from the ship (if possible). It is best to try to call when you have wifi at the hotel in Buenos Aires.
The ship offers internet packages that are relatively expensive and work very unevenly. Having the ambition to work where internet connection is required will create irritation. It is therefore best to leave work at home.
Above is our recommended packing list. Of course, customise according to your personal needs and preferences.

You can see on your number tag which start you are in. Feel free to ask the tour guides what time you should go.
Clothes drop-off
Clothing drop-off will be available at the start for those who want to drop off any outerwear and other items. Important to use the bag you get at the expo. A tip for those who do not want to hand in clothes is to bring an old warming sweater and trousers to wear at the start that you can then throw away.
Starting area and track
The Chicago Marathon start area is located in Grant Park, where thousands of runners gather in clearly marked starting pens that open on schedule. There are plenty of toilets, bag drop, medical services and volunteers to help runners into the correct lane. Security checks ensure that many runners arrive on time, and the large grassy areas of the park are great for warming up before the start on Columbus Drive.
The track itself is a fast and completely flat tour through Chicago. It first heads north through River North and Lincoln Park before turning south towards the West Loop. It then continues through culturally rich areas such as Little Italy and Pilsen, known for large crowds and high spirits. Towards the end, runners will pass Chinatown before following Michigan Avenue north to Grant Park again. After a short final climb on Roosevelt Road, the finish line is reached and the medal is received in the centre of Chicago.
See the course map for exact locations. Kilometre markers are located every 5 kilometres along the entire course. Maximum time is 6 hours and 30 minutes.
The crowds are fantastic, with the organisers expecting around 1.7 million spectators along the course, which runs through 29 different Chicago neighbourhoods.
The temperature in October ranges from 8 to 17 degrees centigrade.
There are 20 hydration stations with water and sports drinks, Lemon-Lime Gatorade Endurance Formula, toilets and medical assistance along the course. Chiquita bananas are available at 3 points after just over 32 km. Maurten Gel is distributed at mile 13, 18 and 23.
The objective
After the finish you will receive a bag of snacks. If you have handed in a change of clothes, you will pick them up from the storage bus you left them in. The finish line is in Grant Park about 1-2 km from the hotels.
Immediately after the finish, the organisers will host a nice post-race party that everyone who has run and is over 21 years old is welcome to attend. There will be live bands and beer, drinks and food available for purchase.
PS. After the race, those who want to will meet in the park for the “Post-Race Party”. We have decided on a meeting point for Springtime runners in the north-west corner where we hope to celebrate the finish with you. DS.
App and website
We recommend downloading the Chicago Marathon app when it is released, where the latest information about the race can be found. The organiser’s website also contains comprehensive information.
Chicago – the city of contrasts on Lake Michigan
Chicago is, in our opinion, one of the most exciting cities in the USA. Located on glittering Lake Michigan, the city offers a unique blend of nature, architecture and pulse. Here, marinas and green parks coexist with the world’s tallest skyscrapers – and a city centre full of life.
During your stay, you can enjoy a rich cultural offering, world-class restaurants, shopping for all tastes and a vibrant nightlife. Chicago is also a city with strong Swedish roots – once called “the second largest Swedish city in the world”. Today, charming Andersonville is a living memory of that era.
About the race
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon is not only one of the world’s biggest marathon events – it’s also a place where history is made. On the flat, fast course through the heart of Chicago, not one but two world records have been broken in recent years.
In 2023, Kenyan Kelvin Kiptum shocked the world by becoming the first man to run a marathon under 2:01, with a time of 2:00:35 – the fastest time ever. And the following year, in 2024, it was time again: Ruth Chepngetich made history when she crossed the finish line in 2:09:56, becoming the first woman ever to run under 2:10.
But the Chicago Marathon is more than just a record. It’s a celebration of people with over 45,000 runners, a course that passes through 29 unique neighbourhoods, and a crowd of up to 1.7 million people lining the streets and cheering every step. From start to finish in leafy Grant Park, you’ll be taken on an energetic journey through the city’s diversity – from Chinatown to Lincoln Park, from glittering skyscrapers to bohemian neighbourhoods.
One of the six classic Abbott World Marathon Majors, the race is a destination for both elite and recreational runners. It’s a perfect choice for those who want a fast course, an incredible atmosphere and a trip to one of America’s most exciting cities.
Chicago awaits – is this the year you run the race of your life?
Abbott World Marathon Majors
Do you dream of running among the world’s top marathon cities and joining an exclusive group of runners? Then the Abbott World Marathon Majors is your ultimate challenge – a journey that takes you across six iconic cities, six unforgettable races and a destination that symbolises pure running joy and determination.
The Abbott World Marathon Majors consist of six of the world’s most prestigious marathons: Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York. Together they form the ultimate marathon journey – a chance to experience new cultures, atmospheres and courses, while challenging both body and mind.
Each race you complete earns you a star on your way to the coveted Six Star Medal, proof that you have completed all six. The journey requires careful planning, perseverance and passion – but each goal you cross becomes a memory for life.
Beyond the races, you also become part of a global community of runners through the World Marathon Majors system, with rankings, virtual challenges and the opportunity to track your progress against the world’s best in your class.
When you run your last of the six races and receive your Six Star Medal, it’s more than a race you’re finishing – it’s a journey you’ve conquered.
The TCS Sydney Marathon has officially become the seventh member of the Abbott World Marathon Majors from 2025. The race has undergone a multi-year evaluation process in which the organisation, safety, spectator support and participation numbers have been improved to meet the high standards required to become a Major. The course takes runners through the city’s most iconic settings, including running across the Sydney Harbour Bridge and finishing at the world-famous Opera House.
Looking ahead, further expansion of the series is planned. Two marathons are currently in the candidate phase: the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon in South Africa and the Shanghai Marathon in China. If the races fulfil all the criteria, they are expected to become official Majors in 2027.
With these additions, the Abbott World Marathon Majors could comprise a total of nine races, and there has already been discussion about the possibility of introducing a new Nine-Star Medal for those runners who complete all the marathons in the expanded series.

It’s a place where royal traditions meet the creative present, classic pubs meet innovative restaurants, elegant shopping streets meet colourful markets. Whether it’s your first visit or your tenth, new neighbourhoods, new flavours and new perspectives await around every corner.
Discovering the city on foot is unbeatable. Follow the Thames past iconic bridges, take a break in leafy Hyde Park or get lost in the backstreets of Covent Garden. From the heights of the Sky Garden or the London Eye, the city’s rooftops spread out – a view that’s as powerful in daylight as when darkness falls and the lights come on.
From historic landmarks like the Tower of London and Westminster Abbey to trendy neighbourhoods like Shoreditch, with its street art and designer boutiques, London has it all. Borough Market combines local delicacies with international flavours, and the West End is home to world-class musicals and theatre.
With millions of inhabitants and a rich cultural life, London is a city full of energy, contrasts and character. It blends tradition and innovation in a way that makes every visit unique.
About the race
Running the Big Half is more than covering 21.1 kilometres – it’s experiencing London first-hand, right in the heart of the city’s vibrant life. When the starting gun goes off at Tower Bridge and you make your way across the closed-off street with the Thames sparkling beside you, it feels like the whole city opens up. The cheers of the crowd follow you through the neighbourhoods of East London, creating an energy that carries you forward step by step.
The course is fast and inviting, but above all, full of character. You’ll run through modern Canary Wharf, along wide city streets and on to historic Greenwich. The contrasts are clear – old meets new, glass facades reflect centuries of history – and each part of the race has its own atmosphere. As you approach the finish line at the Cutty Sark and see the classic sailing ship rise up in front of you, there’s that special feeling: you’re part of something bigger than just a race.
The Big Half is as much about community as it is about performance. It brings together elite and amateur runners, Londoners and international guests, all driven by the same rhythm through the city streets. Whether the goal is a personal best or savouring the experience all the way to the finish line, this is a half marathon that combines the pulse of the city with the joy of running – and leaves you with the memory of London in every step.

If Cape Town fulfils all the criteria, the race is expected to become an official Major in 2026, while Shanghai could be added the following year, in 2027.
With these additions, the Abbott World Marathon Majors could comprise a total of nine races, and there has already been discussion about the possibility of introducing a new Nine-Star Medal for those runners who complete all the marathons in the expanded series.
