About the race

The Paris Marathon is a magnificent and spectacular marathon that draws thousands of passionate runners from around the world every year. The race winds through the heart of Paris, where runners start on the glittering and elegant Champs-Élysées, pass the city’s most iconic, grand and charming landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Notre-Dame and the Seine, and finish in the lush, peaceful Bois de Boulogne.

The Paris Marathon is one of Europe’s largest and best-known marathons, attracting tens of thousands of runners from all over the world every year. The race is organised in April, a time when Paris offers cool mornings and pleasant spring temperatures.

The course is mostly flat and runs through both the centre of Paris and the city’s green spaces. It starts on the Champs-Élysées, followed by classic locations such as Place de la Concorde, the Bastille and long stretches along the Seine, before finishing on Avenue Foch. The combination of wide streets, parks and iconic settings makes the race easy and varied.

The organisation is well developed with regular hydration and energy stations and clear logistics before, during and after the race. The crowd is present along much of the course, contributing to a consistent and positive atmosphere, especially in the city centre.

The Paris Marathon is suitable for both runners aiming for a personal best and those who want to experience their first marathon in an international environment.
