The Beacon Hotel calls itself “The Jewel of the Upper West Side” – and it’s true. The hotel is a real gem with friendly and personalised staff, fresh spacious rooms and a great location.

The Upper West has an abundance of restaurants, bars, shopping, museums and the proximity to the wonderful Central Park is a big plus. From the hotel it is only a short walk to Central Park and the subway station (72nd street) is just a stone’s throw away. The subway takes you quickly all over Manhattan and is by far the best and cheapest means of transport.

Location of the race
Close to the metro (72nd St) which takes you to the ferry and the start in the morning. At the finish line, it’s close to home, about 1 km walk from Central Park.

The rooms
The rooms are spacious, newly renovated and equipped with kitchenette (coffee maker, fridge, microwave, hob). All rooms have shower/WC, TV, telephone, safe, hairdryer, iron and ironing board.
There are many restaurants in the area for breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you want to make your own food, it is also possible, the large and well-known grocery store Fairways is just opposite the hotel and has a large and well-stocked selection.
The rooms have free WiFi.
Breakfast is not included, but a lovely “diner” is located near the hotel.

Room categories

• Single rooms consist of 1 room with one bed
• Double rooms consist of 1 room with a double bed or 2 separate beds. A family of 4 can share a double room with 2 beds provided that both children are under 12 years old. There is no charge for the children.
• The triple rooms consist of 2 rooms, a bedroom with two separate beds and a living room with a sofa bed
• Quadruple rooms consist of 2 rooms, a bedroom with two separate beds and a living room with a sofa bed and an extra bed (the extra bed is 186 cm).

The hotel also has a number of larger suites suitable for 5-6 people, on request.

If you are travelling alone, you may wish to share a room with others and stay in a dormitory. Please note that the people staying in the room must agree on who sleeps where. Person 3 sleeps in the sofa bed and person 4 sleeps in the extra bed.
Sleeping 4 people is relatively cramped and there is only one shower and toilet. However, it works well – as long as you are prepared for it.

Facilities
The hotel has a laundry room with coin-operated washing machines and tumble dryers. Small and fresh fitness centre.

Other
Beacon Hotel has been our regular hotel for 20 years. We have many guests who always want to stay there and there are good reasons for that. Next door to the hotel is the famous Beacon Theatre where there are always concerts and shows of the highest international class.
