Kyiv Unbroken Marathon

RUN FOR UKRAINE – MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Many people want to contribute, but don’t always know how.
RUN FOR UKRAINE makes it easy to get involved and make a difference by doing something you love – running!

You can choose to participate virtually, i.e. you participate and contribute by running where you are. You also choose how far you want to run.

Or you can take the plunge and join us on our journey to the Kyiv Marathon.

Either way, by running, we will bring people together in a joint demonstration that creates commitment, concrete support and, above all, keeps the focus on what is happening in Ukrainia.

Run for Ukraine is an initiative we at Springtime are proud to be a part of.

Through the project, we bring people from all over the world together in a common act – running for a good cause. What starts as an individual decision can grow into something bigger, with each participant contributing to a global whole.

The virtual race is open for registration from the start and gives everyone the opportunity to participate, no matter where they are. At the same time, we are exploring interest in travelling together to the Kyiv Marathon. By registering your interest, you will help shape the next steps of the initiative.

No matter how you choose to participate, you are creating tangible financial support for charitable causes, while helping to keep the commitment and awareness of Ukraine alive. It’s an initiative where running unites people across borders and where every step is part of something that makes a difference.

We do this together with strong partners. The Kyiv Unbroken Marathon is the sporting core and the event itself on the ground in Ukraine. The Association of Tour Operators of Ukraine provides local knowledge and coordination, while the New Hope organisation ensures that funds raised reach the right destination.

Together, we are building an initiative where sport, engagement and co-operation meet in a natural way. Our ambition is to bring together runners from different parts of the world, create a strong community and provide significant support to Ukraine – while showing how running can turn engagement into concrete action.

Run for Ukraine

Run for a good cause!

The war in Ukraine has now been going on for several years and the consequences are devastating. As in all conflicts, children are the hardest hit. Many live in an everyday life characterised by anxiety, uncertainty and lack of security.

Through this project, we want to help make a difference – both here and now, and in the longer term. Our aim is to raise funds that will be channelled directly into efforts to help Ukraine’s children. Another important impact of the initiative is to help keep the spotlight on what is happening in Ukraine. By engaging runners and creating a movement around the project, we can continue to raise the issue and keep it alive in people’s minds.

The project is implemented in collaboration with the organisation New Hope, which has long experience of organising initiatives for Ukrainian children, including summer camps where children have the opportunity to experience security, community and joy. In addition, we cooperate with the Swedish Travel Industry Association (SRF) and AITO Ukraine, both of which are actively involved in supporting Ukraine and especially its young generation.

While some of the funds raised may be used for similar initiatives such as summer camps, our focus is broader. All money raised under the project will be used where it will do the most good for children in Ukraine – whether that is supporting them during the current war or helping them rebuild a future society.

Purpose of the trip to Kyiv Marathon

The trip to the Kyiv Marathon is not a pleasure trip, but part of a larger initiative with a clear purpose. By participating, you are contributing both financially and by creating engagement around the Ukraine issue. When we travel to Kyiv, we also support local actors such as hotels, transport and organisers, which is an important contribution to the Ukrainian economy in a difficult time.

At the same time, the presence itself is an act of solidarity. Ukrainians themselves are asking for an international presence and want the world not to look away. The fact that people from other countries choose to come to Kyiv therefore sends a clear signal of support and community, and shows that Ukraine does not stand alone.

In this context, running is a tool – a way to engage more people, create a movement and enable fundraising for an important cause. In this way, we turn the desire to help into concrete action.

Organisation in brief

The trip is planned for October 2026 in conjunction with the Kyiv Marathon. The arrangement is based on a joint bus trip starting from Warsaw on Friday 9 October with arrival in Kyiv on Saturday morning. The race (full and half marathon) will take place on Sunday 11 October and the bus journey home will start on Monday 12 October with arrival in Warsaw on Tuesday morning 13 October.

Estimated cost for the above including starting place in the race is 7000 SEK. Please note that flights to and from Warsaw are not included.

Trip to Kyiv Marathon – expression of interest

We are currently exploring interest in a joint trip to the Kyiv Marathon in 2026. The ambition is to organise a trip with a clear purpose – to combine running with concrete support for Ukraine – but implementation will depend on demand.

This is therefore an expression of interest, not a binding booking. By registering your interest, you will help us to decide whether to organise the trip and, if so, what form it should take.

If you are interested in participating – register your interest now.
There is no obligation, but it gives us the basis to take the next step.

If the trip goes ahead, you will have the opportunity to book your place and contribute financially to the project. You choose the amount you want to contribute, and any surplus from the trip will go in full to charitable causes for the children of Ukraine.

Special conditions for travelling to Ukraine

This trip is subject to special conditions due to the current security situation in Ukraine and the fact that many countries’ foreign ministries and authorities advise against travelling to the area.

Participating in the trip means that you are aware and accept that you are travelling to an area where travel advisories apply, and that you are travelling at your own risk. It is therefore particularly important that you carefully familiarise yourself with what this means in terms of your home country’s recommendations before booking.

Due to travel advisories, normal travel insurance policies are usually not valid or valid with restrictions. This means that cover that normally includes, for example, medical care, cancellation or repatriation may be reduced or non-existent depending on the insurer and the country of origin.

However, in order to provide basic protection, a special insurance policy is taken out with a Ukrainian insurance company. This insurance covers key elements such as emergency medical care and certain necessary costs during the stay. Exact terms and conditions and coverage are available under the “Insurance” tab.

It is your responsibility to assess whether this cover is sufficient for your needs and, if necessary, to supplement it with additional cover where possible.

Should the security situation in Ukraine deteriorate or escalate, the trip may be cancelled. Such a decision is made jointly by the Swedish Travel Industry Association (SRF), AITO Ukraine and Springtime, based on the current security assessment.

The trip is covered by the EU Package Travel Directive and applicable national package travel legislation. Otherwise, Springtime’s standard travel and booking conditions for package holidays apply .

We recommend that you continuously monitor updates from the relevant authorities in your home country and follow the instructions of local authorities throughout your journey.

Participate virtually – wherever you are

We recognise that not everyone will want or be able to join us on the trip to Kyiv. That’s why there is the possibility to participate virtually. No matter where you are, you can join us, run on your home turf and contribute to the fundraising at the same time.

Again, you choose the amount you want to contribute. In this way, everyone who wants to can join in and make a difference – through running – regardless of their circumstances.

Together, we can help keep the spotlight on what’s happening in Ukraine alive, while giving Ukraine’s children hope, support and a better future.

About the race

Running through Kyiv is a journey through a city full of history, energy and optimism. Along the course, you’ll be greeted by grand avenues, iconic buildings and a crowd that carries runners forward with its enthusiasm. The Kyiv Marathon has become a symbol of both endurance and community, where people from all over the world come together with a common purpose.

What gives the race a special weight is its strong commitment to charity. Through initiatives linked to organisations such as the Tabletochki Charity Foundation and the Come Back Alive Foundation, participants’ efforts are transformed into tangible support for people in need. Contributions are used to fund treatments for children with serious illnesses, strengthen healthcare resources and provide assistance to families affected by crisis and conflict. In this way, every kilometre has a deeper meaning.

The atmosphere of the race is characterised by an international presence and a strong sense of community. Elite runners and beginners meet here, all driven by the same desire to contribute and experience something that goes beyond their own performance. The Kyiv Marathon offers an experience where physical challenge and human endeavour go hand in hand, and where every step carries meaning.

The Kyiv railway is designed to showcase the city’s contrasts. It moves through the city centre with wide avenues and open squares, but also passes through areas where the city’s historical heritage is evident in the architecture. The elevation profile is varied, with both longer climbs and easier sections, making the race technically interesting without being daunting. Views of the Dnipro River and passages through the city’s central hubs contribute to a course that is constantly changing visually and mentally for the runner.

The organisation behind the race works according to international standards for urban marathons. Hydration stations are strategically placed throughout the course and staffed by volunteers, often local residents, creating a close connection between participants and the city. Safety is a key part of the planning, with roads closed, clear signage and medical teams ready to intervene if needed. Timing is digital and integrated with start groups that are released in waves to reduce congestion and provide a smoother pace right from the start.

The virtual race

If you can’t run the race on site, you can run on your home turf by joining the Kyiv Marathon virtually anytime between 9-13 October. So tie your shoes and be part of something meaningful, right from your own home turf. With the Kyiv Marathon Virtual Run, you can experience the feeling of an international race – while showing your support and solidarity.

Whether you’re running through the woods, along the streets of your city or on your favourite trail, every step you take is part of a global movement. You choose the distance, pace and time – but the sense of community is the same.

  • Run when it suits you
  • Choose your own path
  • Contribute to something bigger

This race brings people together across borders, where running becomes a common language.
